What detailing & wash operations do
Detailing and wash operations wash, buff, polish, wax, clay-bar, and deep-clean interiors — often applying ceramic coatings, correcting paint, and shampooing upholstery. Many detailers also run mobile, working on customers’ vehicles at their homes or workplaces. Almost every minute of the work is spent touching the customer’s vehicle.
The exposures that come with it
Because the work is entirely hands-on with the customer’s car, the primary exposure is garagekeepers: swirl marks, buffer burn, scratched paint, or interior damage during detailing are all care, custody & control claims. There’s also chemical handling exposure (solvents, coatings, disposal), slip-and-fall premises liability on wet floors, and — for mobile detailers — off-premises operations risk wherever the work is performed. Many detailers are owner-operators, so getting the coverage right matters even for a small operation.
Coverage that matters for detailing
Garagekeepers for vehicles in your care, garage liability for operations and premises, property for your space and supplies, and workers’ comp. Coverage is general in nature and governed solely by the terms of the issued policy.
